EFI seeks two experts for the EU REDD Facility

The European Forest Institute (EFI) is seeking two experts for the EU REDD Facility.

1. REDD+ expert to support the development of the EU REDD Facility work in South East Asia

Application deadline: 6 February 2017

The REDD+ expert will provide technical as well as strategic advice and inputs to the activities implemented through the EU REDD Facility in Asia, notably Indonesia, Laos and Vietnam. The REDD+ expert will be responsible for:

  • Managing and supervising technical assistance projects developed by the EU REDD Facility in the field of land-use governance, tenure and land-use planning as well as deforestation-free commodity production, in support of REDD+ and FLEGT national processes.
  • Providing technical support to a broad range of stakeholders on matters related to FLEGT and REDD+ processes and their interactions, land-use governance, tenure and land-use planning, addressing drivers of legal and illegal forest conversion, deforestation-free commodity production, drawing on lessons from the work developed by the EU REDD Facility and the EU FLEGT Facility in Africa, Asia and America.
  • Increasing the understanding and raising awareness of REDD+ and FLEGT interactions in the region and documenting and sharing experiences from partner countries in improving land use governance through their REDD+ and FLEGT national processes with a broad array of stakeholders, including partner countries stakeholders, the European Union and its member states, donors, multilateral partners and other constituents and stakeholders.

2. REDD+ expert to support the development of the EU REDD Facility work in Africa

Application deadline: 6 February 2017

The REDD+ expert will provide technical advice and input to the activities implemented in Africa by the EU REDD Facility. As part of the REDD team and together with other experts, the REDD+ expert will:

  • Manage technical assistance projects developed by the EU REDD Facility in the field of forest and land-use governance as well as deforestation-free commodity production, in support of national REDD+ and FLEGT processes.
  • Carry out analysis on matters related to FLEGT and REDD+ processes and their interactions, forest and land-use governance, tenure and land-use planning, addressing drivers of legal and illegal forest conversion, deforestation-free commodity production, drawing on lessons from the work developed by the EU REDD and EU FLEGT Facilities in Africa, Asia and Latin America.
  • Contribute to documenting lessons learnt from partner countries on ways to improve forest and land-use governance through their REDD+ and FLEGT national processes and share these experiences with a broad array of stakeholders, including partner countries stakeholders, the European Union and its member states, donors, multilateral partners and others.
