EFI seeks a Forest & Land Use Governance Expert

The European Forest Institute (EFI) is seeking a Forest & Land Use Governance Expert to support EU REDD Facility work in Asia, based at EFI’s Kuala Lumpur project office in Malaysia.

The Expert will backstop EFI’s REDD+ country and regional work in Asia building on the work of EFI’s country and regional teams supporting REDD and FLEGT processes.

The Expert will focus on:

  • Support EU REDD Facility work in Lao PDR, Vietnam and Thailand and at the regional level, in particular assistance to work on legality, trade and forest conversion.
  • Carry out analysis of forest and land use governance challenges and inform strategic thinking to support REDD+ related processes and FLEGT-REDD+ linkages at national and regional level. Topics to be covered may include legality in relation to forest conversion and forest-risk commodity production and trade, transparency, stakeholder participation, and legal, technical and institutional reforms.
  • Contribute to the integration of EFI’s support to REDD+ related processes into FLEGT processes in Lao PDR, Vietnam and Thailand and at the regional level.
  • Conduct analysis of land use change, and commodity production and trade in relation to national and international legal and regulatory frameworks and policy commitments.
  • Contribute to document lessons learnt in the design and implementation of FLEGT and REDD+ processes.
